Kingsley Napley LLP, a leading UK law firm known for its high-profile legal work and multidisciplinary expertise, has reported solid financial results for the transitional financial year ending 31 March 2025. The firm posted revenues of £65.8 million for the 11-month period, alongside profits of £19.7 million and profit per equity partner (PEP) of £371,000.

Due to changes brought about by HMRC basis period reforms, Kingsley Napley aligned its accounting calendar to a 31 March year-end. On a pro forma 12-month basis, the firm’s estimated revenue stood at £71.7 million, a slight increase from the £71.3 million achieved in its record-breaking 2023/24 financial year. Estimated profit for the full year was £21.5 million, with PEP at £405,000 and a profit margin of 30%, compared to 31% the previous year.

Leadership Transition: Welcoming Matt Meyer as Managing Partner

A defining moment in the firm’s 2024/25 fiscal year was the planned transition in leadership. On 1 April 2025, long-serving Managing Partner Linda Woolley formally handed over to Matt Meyer, a distinguished legal industry leader known for his innovation-first mindset and strategic foresight.

Reflecting on the firm’s performance and transition, Meyer commented:

“I would like to thank my predecessor, Linda Woolley, for delivering these results in her final year as Managing Partner. They represent a stable foundation on which the firm can begin a new chapter.

As anticipated, this has been a year of consolidation and transition. We are now well-positioned for the next phase of growth with a refreshed strategy, strong market presence, and a clear focus on innovation and talent development.”

Strategic Investments: AI, Infrastructure, and Lateral Growth

Despite the transitional nature of the year, Kingsley Napley maintained a clear investment focus. Priority was given to upgrading IT infrastructure and expanding the firm’s AI capabilities. In April 2025, Kingsley Napley formally announced an AI innovation partnership with lawtech provider Let’s Think, signalling its intent to remain at the forefront of legal technology.

Talent acquisition remained a cornerstone of the firm’s growth strategy. Over the period from April 2024 to May 2025, Kingsley Napley welcomed a number of high-profile lateral hires, strengthening its position across regulatory and corporate legal services:

  • Regulatory Practice: Crispin Passmore, Juliet Oliver, Colette Best, Andrew Sanderson
  • Corporate, Commercial & Finance: Christopher Perrin, Glafkos Tombolis
  • Dispute Resolution: James Glaysher

These appointments reflect Kingsley Napley’s continued commitment to offering industry-leading legal advice across its full suite of services.

New Strategic Vision: Clarity, Identity and Growth

Under Meyer’s leadership, Kingsley Napley is preparing to implement a refreshed firm-wide strategy aimed at clarifying its market identity, sharpening commercial direction, and reinforcing its reputation in key legal practice areas.

Meyer’s strategic priorities include:

  • Strengthening client relationships through innovation and agility
  • Attracting and retaining top legal talent
  • Aligning purpose and performance to navigate an evolving legal landscape

This forward-thinking strategy is set to enhance the firm’s visibility, deepen client engagement, and support long-term value creation.
